Sectors

Robotics

Lightweight parts with tight positional tolerances. Every gram of moving mass goes straight into cycle time — and every positional deviation into repeatability.

A hard-anodised aluminium joint housing floats above its matching bolt-circle flange, the bearing seats left bright.

What the sector demands

A robot arm is a tolerance stack with six links. What arrives at the tool centre point is the sum of every positional error before it — which makes the positional tolerance between two bearing seats the most important figure on the drawing.

At the same time the part has to be light. Thin-walled structures with cleared pockets are the norm, and they move while being cut. We plan stress-relief steps into the sequence and measure in between.
